We went to Melissia in July 2017. Population 22 people. Beautiful mountainous location. Our visit was spoiled by the discovery of a dog and a puppy tied to a fence on the approach to the village. They had no food, no water and no shelter/shade. The 22 good people of the village must have driven past for weeks and done nothing. The mother dog died in the 40c heat. Fortunately the pup was rescued and found a home.A very poor reflection on those who live in Melissia - a dying village which will be a collection of abandoned ruins within a decade.
